Simone de Vlaming, a twenty-seven-year-old from the Netherlands, has faced a myriad of challenges in her young life. From chronic pain to anxiety, emotional abuse, burnout, long COVID, and emotional eating, Simone’s journey has been nothing short of tumultuous. However, she has resiliently fought through these obstacles and is in the process of rebuilding herself.
Diagnosed with ACNES (Anterior Cutaneous Nerve Entrapment Syndrome) at the age of twelve, Simone struggled with chronic pain for years before finding relief through an injection at seventeen. Despite this breakthrough, she was simultaneously battling severe anxiety and panic attacks, triggered by an unhealthy relationship.
By the age of nineteen, Simone had hit rock bottom, experiencing a burnout and feeling overwhelmed by her anxiety. The toxic relationship she was in only exacerbated her struggles, leading to a decline in her mental and physical health. However, a moment of clarity during a throat infection two years ago sparked a change in Simone.
Realizing that she couldn’t control what was happening to her but could control how she responded, Simone began taking small steps towards healing. She delved into self-help books, sought therapy, and started implementing positive habits and routines to regain control over her life.
Throughout her journey, Simone learned the importance of self-worth, rest, and having a supportive network. By prioritizing her mental and physical health, setting boundaries, and not settling for less than she deserved, Simone slowly but steadily started to rebuild her life.
Today, Simone shares her experiences and insights through her personal growth site, We Mind Growth, hoping to inspire others on their own paths to healing. She emphasizes the importance of self-care, resilience, and the power of mindset in overcoming life’s challenges.
Simone’s story is a testament to the human spirit’s resilience and capacity for growth. As she continues to navigate the ups and downs of life, Simone’s journey serves as a beacon of hope for those facing their own struggles. Remember, as Simone says, “the only way out is through,” and with determination and self-belief, anything is possible.
