Bodybuilding Legends Reflect on Their Least Favorite Competition

Bodybuilding legends and special guests Sergio Oliva Jr and Victor Martinez joined host Dennis James and regular panelists Chris Cormier and Milos Sarcev for an episode of The Menace Podcast that delved into the shows they regretted competing in the most.

During the podcast, Dennis James started the conversation by admitting his regret for competing in the 2012 Masters Mr. Olympia in Miami, where he placed third and felt he should have stayed home instead. Victor Martinez shared that his worst day on stage was during the 2017 Olympia, a stark difference from his peak performances in 2007.

Milos Sarcev revealed that his biggest regret was competing in the 2003 Night of the Champions, a decision he made despite feeling he had no business being there at the time. Chris Cormier also reflected on a low point in his career, competing in Canada in 2006 after suffering from an infected spine.

Sergio Oliva Jr, coming off a recent triumph at the New York Pro in 2017, shared his regret for rushing into a competition in 2023 right after getting out of jail in Dubai. He acknowledged that his decision was influenced by Victor Martinez’s similar experience but admitted he should have taken a different approach.

Despite their regrets, the bodybuilding legends shared valuable insights and personal experiences during the podcast, which also touched on hot topics in the bodybuilding world such as the Detroit Pro, William Bonac, and the Pittsburgh Pro. Episode 226 is definitely one not to be missed for all bodybuilding enthusiasts.
