In just 10 minutes, practicing mindfulness can lead to a 19% decrease in depression.

This groundbreaking global study conducted by researchers from the Universities of Bath and Southampton has found that short daily mindfulness sessions using the Medito app can significantly improve mental health and lead to healthier lifestyle behaviors. The study involved over 1200 participants from 91 countries who engaged in just 10 minutes of mindfulness practice each day for a month.

The results were astounding, with participants reporting reduced depression, improved well-being, decreased anxiety, and more positive attitudes towards health. Even after the 30-day mindfulness routine ended, participants maintained these improvements in their mental health and reported better sleep quality.

Participants shared their feedback on the benefits of mindfulness, including increased awareness, self-control, and gratitude, as well as feeling more patient and joyful in the present moment. The study also revealed that mindfulness practice can lead to sustainable healthy habits like regular exercise.

Lead researcher Masha Remskar emphasized the simplicity and power of mindfulness as a tool for enhancing mental health and promoting healthier living. Co-author Dr. Ben Ainsworth highlighted the role of digital technology, such as the Medito app, in making mindfulness more accessible and impactful for a global audience.

This study demonstrates the potential of mindfulness practice to not only improve mental health but also inspire positive lifestyle changes. The findings pave the way for future research into the relationship between mindfulness, mental well-being, and healthy habits, offering hope for a more mindful and healthier world.
