Most likely date for Brits to start healthy eating habits ahead of summer

Survey Reveals 88% of Health-Conscious Brits Starting Restrictive Diets for Summer Shape-Up

It’s that time of year again when health-conscious Brits are making a last-ditch effort to shape up for the summer. A poll of 2,000 people who regularly go on diets found that a whopping 88% will be starting some form of restrictive eating plan this week, with June 6 being the most popular starting day.

However, despite their best intentions, the survey revealed that the nation’s healthy eating plans only last an average of 16 days. A third of those surveyed said they were currently trying to lose weight and improve their diet, but a quarter admitted to finding healthy eating tedious and hard to stick to.

Some of the diets that people have tried and given up on include low carb, cutting calories, intermittent fasting like the 5:2 diet, and even more extreme options like the five bite diet and fruitarianism.

According to Lily Soutter, the resident nutritionist at Lingo, making small and sustainable changes to your diet is more realistic than expecting overnight results. “When practiced daily, these changes can contribute to overall well-being,” she said.

So, as the summer approaches, it’s important to remember that quick fixes may not always be the answer when it comes to getting in shape. Making small changes that you can stick to in the long run may be the key to reaching your health and fitness goals.
