Dutch bodybuilder Roelly Winklaar’s journey into the world of steroids took an unexpected turn, as he recently opened up about his first experience with performance enhancing drugs on “The Menace” Podcast. Winklaar, a seasoned competitor on the bodybuilding stage, revealed that his initial attitude towards steroids was one of aversion, until he saw the incredible physiques of fellow competitors like Dennis Wolf.
In a candid chat with host Dennis James and guests Milos Sarcev and Chris Cormier, Winklaar shared how a devastating car accident in 2007 led to a 20kg weight loss, prompting him to turn to steroids to rebuild his physique. His first foray into this world began with a substance called Superdeca, which he admitted he knew little about at the time.
Despite his lack of knowledge, Winklaar’s decision to use Superdeca led to astonishing results – he gained a whopping 66 pounds in just seven weeks during his first steroid cycle. While his peak Mr. Olympia position came in 2018, where he placed third, Winklaar’s risky approach to steroid use highlights the dangers of diving into such substances without proper understanding.
Now 47 years old, Winklaar reflects on his past decisions with gratitude that he is still around to share his story. To hear more about his journey and his predictions for The Arnold 2025, viewers can check out the full episode on the Muscle & Fitness YouTube channel.
