UEFA’s Commitment to Health and Well-Being through Football Initiatives
UEFA Champions Health and Well-Being in Football
In an effort to promote healthy lifestyles and well-being, UEFA has launched a comprehensive health and well-being policy aimed at leveraging the power of football to support healthy living. From encouraging physical activity across all age groups to ensuring that European football venues meet the highest health standards, UEFA is committed to creating a healthy and safe environment for all.
One of the key initiatives under UEFA’s health and well-being policy is the Healthy and Sustainable Catering Guidelines, which were introduced in 2023. Developed in collaboration with ALMA, the School of Italian Culinary Arts, these guidelines set a new benchmark for organizers of sports events. They offer practical advice on making responsible, sustainable food and beverage choices that minimize costs and waste, ensuring that everyone can enjoy our competitions in a healthy and safe environment.
In addition to promoting healthy eating, UEFA is also focused on the mental and physical health benefits of playing football. Regardless of age or ability, UEFA encourages individuals to stay active and make healthy lifestyle choices. Initiatives such as the Coaches for Health campaign mobilize the European coaching community to educate adolescents about the importance of staying active and making healthy choices.
Through campaigns like #FeelWellPlayWell, national team coaches have recorded video messages advising young people on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and substance abuse. UEFA is also developing a health and well-being toolkit to further educate parents, coaches, and young adults on the benefits of good nutrition, physical activity, mental well-being, healthy relationships with digital screens, and road safety.
With a focus on promoting health and well-being both on and off the field, UEFA is leading the way in advocating for healthy lifestyles and empowering individuals to make positive choices for their overall well-being.
