Dr. Michael Mosley claims taking a 2p pill may prevent dementia and cancer

Renowned Dieting Expert, Dr. Michael Mosley, Recommends Daily Vitamin D Supplements for Older Adults: Here’s Why

Renowned nutrition expert Dr. Michael Mosley, known for his popular 5:2 and Fast 800 diets, has revealed his daily supplement routine now includes Vitamin D. The 66-year-old doctor emphasized the importance of this essential nutrient, especially as we age, for preventing diseases like dementia and reducing the risk of colon cancer.

Traditionally against supplements, Dr. Mosley acknowledges the body’s decreased ability to absorb Vitamin D as we get older, prompting his decision to incorporate it into his daily routine year-round. The NHS also recommends a daily dose of this vitamin to maintain optimal health.

While rich in Vitamin D through foods like oily fish and eggs, Dr. Mosley has opted to take supplements this year to ensure his levels remain topped up. Aging research studies have shown that older individuals are more prone to deficiency due to decreased skin conversion of sunlight and spending more time indoors.

Despite differing advice on dosages, Dr. Mosley takes 25 mcg (1,000 IU) daily, within safe limits and closer to the doses shown in studies to ward off infections, cancers, and possibly dementia. Vitamin D’s well-known role in bone health has now expanded, with researchers finding its receptors in nearly all cells, indicating benefits beyond bone strength like preventing colon cancer and maintaining brain health.

With a pack of 400 pills costing just £8.99, roughly 2 pence per day, Dr. Mosley’s simple yet effective supplement strategy serves as a reminder of the importance of Vitamin D in overall health and well-being.
