Dhaka Flow: Inaugural National Youth Wellness Festival Promotes Health and Well-being

The first National Youth Wellness Festival, Dhaka Flow, made its debut at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) on June 3, aiming to provide young people with the tools they need to lead healthy, balanced lives and combat mental health disorders.

The event kicked off with inspirational speeches highlighting the importance of youth health and wellbeing, followed by yoga workshops, health expert talks, and a photo contest on the theme of Good Health and Well-being. The Honourable Mayor of North Dhaka, Atiqul Islam, graced the occasion along with other distinguished guests.

Mayor Atiqul Islam stressed the significance of self-love and discipline in maintaining physical and mental wellness, emphasizing that taking care of oneself enables individuals to better serve their communities and the world. Shazia Omar, co-founder of Dhaka Flow, shared how yoga and meditation helped her overcome personal challenges, inspiring her to spread this knowledge to others.

Professor Imran Rahman of ULAB highlighted the festival’s importance in shaping the health and habits of university students, while Mokhlesur Rahman from the World Bank underscored the role of mindful youth in tackling future challenges like climate change and technology.

Prominent business organizations supporting youth development and wellness provided participants with goodies, showing their commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles. Sajida Foundation demonstrated their mental health services in partnership with Dhaka Flow, offering support through hotlines, counsellors, and emotional management apps.

Dhaka Flow is dedicated to promoting wellness through various platforms and activities, helping Dhaka’s youth manage stress, improve mental well-being, and foster compassion in themselves and their community. The festival will continue throughout the week at different universities in the city.
