City of Philadelphia Partners with On the Goga to Enhance City Workers’ Health and Wellbeing
City workers in Philadelphia now have a new tool to prioritize their health and well-being thanks to a partnership between the city government and a local company offering corporate well-being programs. The initiative, through a platform called On the Goga, aims to improve the quality of life for the 26,000 city employees.
On the Goga, a woman-owned business founded in Philadelphia, provides resources such as information, classes, and workshops on lifestyle wellness. This program has been available to some city employees for the past two years, but recently expanded to include all workers through the Independence Blue Cross Achieve Well-being @Work program.
The platform offers a range of resources for physical, emotional, and community well-being. Employees can access information on exercise, nutrition, mental health, and communication techniques to reduce workplace stress and improve personal development. Live virtual workshops cover topics like stress management, burnout, and even desk yoga.
“We want to empower all our employees through health literacy to support better quality of life and health outcomes overall,” said Marsha Greene Jones, deputy director for employee benefits with Philadelphia’s Office of Human Resources. On the Goga’s Founder and CEO, Anna Greenwald, expressed excitement about the opportunity to contribute to the city’s vision of investing in the well-being of its employees.
This partnership represents a step towards redefining how cities can support the health and wellness of their workforce, ultimately fostering a healthier and happier community.
