Protester asking for food for occupiers at Columbia met with mockery

Pro-Palestine Columbia University Protester Mocked for Demanding Food and “Basic Humanitarian Aid”

The recent protests at Columbia University have taken a new turn as a pro-Palestine protester, Johannah King-Slutzky, demanded the school provide essential supplies to students who had occupied a building on campus. In a passionate plea, the PhD student raised concerns about the occupiers potentially facing dehydration and starvation if they were not given food and water.

Ms. King-Slutzky’s demand for basic humanitarian aid sparked a debate, with a journalist questioning the protesters’ intentions of wanting to be revolutionaries while asking for supplies. However, Ms. King-Slutzky clarified that they were not asking the university to provide supplies but simply not to hinder others from doing so.

The protester, who comes from a family of psychologists, has been actively involved in progressive and leftist causes, as well as being a member of the student workers’ union. Her research at Columbia focused on theories of imagination and poetry through a Marxist lens.

As tensions escalate on campus, with police arresting protesters and accusations of hate speech and vandalism, the situation at Columbia continues to unfold. The protests, which have spread to campuses across the US, have become a focal point of controversy and debate.
